Organizers learn that Human Rights Officer Carl Crawford is the person who scheduled the three community forums.

After being questioned about this decision, Carl said that he would like to meet with community leaders to talk about how the forums would be facilitated.

IMPACT: The city operated on a self-imposed timeline. They did not know for a fact that the gear was going to come up on the next city council meeting (it was not on the agenda), and they could have asked for more time if they felt pressed and thought that community input into the process was important. Not doing so illustrates that they don’t actually believe it is important.

Duluth (In)Action is a platform to ultimately abolish the system of policing in Duluth and shift the culture of accountability. We are a group of Duluth citizens shedding light on the current practices of our city and DPD, hoping to ultimately change the way we think about policing and safety. We also hope this work can be used by activists and organizers as a political education tool for communities.
